Dominican Republic Inflation Rate Rises to Over 1-Year High
The annual inflation rate in Dominican Republic rose to 3.23 percent from 2.48 percent in the previous month. It was the highest inflation rate since October last year, as prices went up further for food & non-alcoholic beverages (8.05 percent vs 7.79 percent in October); restaurants & hotels (2.16 percent vs 1.97 percent); miscellaneous goods & services (3.44 percent vs 3.30 percent); health (3.68 percent vs 3.44 percent); education (4.57 percent vs 4.55 percent); and alcoholic beverages & tobacco (6.99 percent vs 6.22 percent). Also, cost of transport rebounded (0.93 percent vs -0.76 percent). Additionally, prices fell less for housing (-1.58 percent vs -4.31 percent); and recreation & culture (-0.20 percent vs -0.59 percent). On a monthly basis, consumer prices went up 0.37 percent, easing from a 0.67 percent gain in the prior month.

Dominican Republic Inflation Rate at 1-Year High
The annual inflation rate in Dominican Republic rose to 2.48 percent in October of 2019 from 2.02 percent in September. It was the highest inflation rate since October last year, as prices advanced faster for food & non-alcoholic beverages (7.79 percent vs 7.09 percent in September); restaurants & hotels (1.97 percent vs 1.91 percent) and miscellaneous goods & services (3.30 percent vs 3.12 percent) while cost dropped at a softer pace for transport (-0.76 percent vs -1.35 percent) and housing (-4.31 percent vs -4.93 percent). On the other hand, furniture & household equipment prices went up less (1.75 percent vs 2.00 percent). On a monthly basis, consumer prices went up 0.67 percent, following a 0.38 percent increase in the prior month.

Dominican Republic Inflation Climbs to 12-Month High
The annual inflation rate in Dominican Republic rose to 2.48 percent in October 2019 from 2.02 percent in September. It was the highest inflation rate in a year, mainly nudged by prices of agricultural products. Core inflation went up to 2.23 percent from 2.14 percent. Year-to-date, inflation currently stands at 3.06 percent. On a monthly basis, consumer prices went up 0.67 percent after rising 0.38 percent, mainly nudged by food prices (+1.22 percent) and liquor & tobacco (+2.37 percent).

Dominican Republic Inflation Rate Rises to 10-Month High
The annual inflation rate in Dominican Republic rose to 2.02 percent in September 2019 from 1.72 percent in August. It was the highest inflation rate since November last year, as prices advanced further for food & non-alcoholic beverages (7.1 percent vs 5.3 percent in August); restaurants & hotels (1.9 percent vs 1.8 percent); miscellaneous goods & services (3.1 percent vs 3 percent); education (4.6 percent vs 4 percent); and alcoholic beverages & tobacco (3.9 percent vs 3.7 percent). Also, cost of recreation & culture fell less (-0.6 percent vs -0.8 percent). Meanwhile, prices of furnishings & household equipment slowed (2 percent vs 2.1 percent); and inflation was steady for health (at 3.4 percent). Additionally, cost declined at a faster pace for housing & utilities (-4.9 percent vs -4.5 percent); transport (-1.4 percent vs -0.5 percent); and clothing & footwear dropped less (-3.4 percent vs -3.3 percent). On a monthly basis, consumer prices went up 0.38 percent.

Dominican Republic Inflation Rate Rises to 9-Month High
The annual inflation rate in Dominican Republic rose to 1.72 percent in August 2019 from 1.4 percent in July. It was the highest inflation rate since November last year, as prices went up further for food & non-alcoholic beverages (5.3 percent vs 3.9 percent in July); miscellaneous goods & services (3 percent vs 2.9 percent); furnishings & household equipment (2.1 percent vs 1.9 percent); health (3.4 percent vs 3.2 percent); and alcoholic beverages & tobacco (5.3 percent vs 3.9 percent). In addition, cost of clothing & footwear dropped less (-3.3 percent vs -3.4 percent). On the other hand, prices eased for restaurants & hotels (1.8 percent vs 1.9 percent); and education (4 percent vs 4.4 percent). Also, cost fell at a faster pace for housing & utilities (-4.5 percent vs -4.2 percent); transport (-0.5 percent vs -0.4 percent); and recreation & culture (-0.8 percent vs -0.2 percent). On a monthly basis, consumer prices increased 0.3 percent, easing from a 0.5 percent gain in July.

Dominican Republic Inflation Rate Eases to 5-Month Low
The annual inflation rate in Dominican Republic dropped to 0.92 percent in June 2019 from 1.31 percent in the previous month. It was the lowest inflation rate in five months, as cost of transport fell (-0.4 percent vs 1.1 percent in May) and prices of housing & utilities declined further (-3.5 percent vs -2 percent). Also, cost slowed for restaurants & hotels (1.8 percent vs 1.9 percent); furnishings & household equipment (1.9 percent vs 2 percent) and recreation & culture (0.4 percent vs 0.7 percent). Meanwhile, prices advanced at a faster pace for food & non-alcoholic beverages (1.8 percent vs 1.6 percent); miscellaneous goods & services (2.8 percent vs 2.7 percent); health (3.2 percent vs 3.1 percent); education (4.5 percent vs 4.4 percent) and alcoholic beverages & tobacco (3.4 percent vs 3.3 percent). In addition, cost of clothing & footwear fell less (-3.4 percent vs -3.6 percent). On a monthly basis, consumer prices went down 0.2 percent, after a flat reading in May.
