Philippines Manufacturing Output Falls for 11th Month
Industrial production in the Philippines dropped by 4.3 percent year-on-year in October 2019, the eleventh straight month of fall, after a revised 3.4 percent drop a month earlier. Output contracted further for electrical machinery (-20.4% vs -14.6% in September), petroleum products (-25.6% vs -25.1%), basic metals (-13.5% vs -20.4%), miscellaneous manufactures (-22.3% vs -11.9%), transport equipment (-7.6% vs -10.1%), and textiles (-10.8% vs -4.8%). In addition, production growth slowed for printing (96% vs 113.5%), tobacco products (40.2% vs 55.7%), machinery except electrical (4.2% vs 9.4%), beverages (6.4% vs 14.8%), paper and paper products (8.2% vs 9.7%), furniture & fixtures (8.7% vs 15.7%), and wood & wood products (8.1% vs 18.2%). Meanwhile, output of chemical products grew faster (7.8% vs 4.3%), while those of leather products rebounded (6.3% vs -1.1%).

Philippines Industrial Output Falls for 10th Month
Manufacturing production in Philippines declined 2.3 percent year-on-year in September 2019, the tenth straight month of drop, after an upwardly revised 8.3 percent fall in the prior month. Output fell at a softer rate for petroleum products (-25.2% vs -61.8% in August), transport equipment (-9.2% vs -18.5%), miscellaneous manufactures (-11.9% vs -16.5%), footwear & wearing apparel (-3.4% vs -4.9%), and chemical products (-1.2% vs -1.4%). In addition, production growth accelerated for printing (79.9% vs 59.9%), basic metals (8.1% vs 3.3%), and fabricated metals (19.2% vs 15.9%); while output rebounded for both machinery except electrical (9.1% vs -0.9%), and furniture and fixtures (14.3% vs -9.1%). Also, production picked up for both beverages (18% vs 0.2%), and wood & wood products (14.1% vs 3.4%).

Manufacturing production in the Philippines dropped by 7.9 percent in August 2019, the ninth straight month of contraction, after a revised 5.5 percent drop in July. Output declined for petroleum products (-61.8% vs -74.4% in July), electrical machinery (-14.3% vs -9.2%), transport equipment (-18.5% vs 3.5%), miscellaneous manufactures (-14% vs -13.6%), beverages (-5.3% vs 6.9%), textiles (-6.8% vs -2.4%), furniture and fixtures (-6.6% vs 23.2%), footwear and wearing apparel (-1.4% vs 3.6%), and paper products (-0.3% vs 4.5%). In addition, production growth slowed for chemical products (7.5% vs 11.8%), non-metallic mineral products (12.7% vs 19.4%), fabricated metals (15.6% vs 28.1%), and machinery except electrical (2.1% vs 12.1%).

Philippines Manufacturing Output Falls for 6th Month
Manufacturing production in the Philippines dropped by 7.3 percent year-on-year in July 2019, the sixth straight month of yearly decline, after an upwardly revised 10.2 percent fall in a month earlier. Declines were seen in the output of petroleum products (-76.5% vs -69.9%), electrical machinery (-8% vs -8.3% in June), basic metals (-8.5% vs -23.8%), miscellaneous manufactures (-13.6% vs -8.3%), and textiles (-3.3% vs -3.8%). In contrast, production grew further for chemical products (11.1% vs 1%), beverages (9.8% vs 21.2%), printing (36.4% vs 66.3%), rubber & plastics (8.7% vs 11.9%), wood & wood products (43.1 vs 4.4%), and non-metallic mineral products (1.5% vs 3%); while rebounded for food manufacturing (3.6% vs -6.8%), fabricated metal products (26% vs -1.5%), furniture & fixtires (23.2% vs -6%), and transport equipment (2.8% vs -5.8%).

Philippines Manufacturing Output Falls for 5th Month
Manufacturing production in the Philippines dropped by 9.6 percent year-on-year in June 2019, after an upwardly revised 9.1 percent fall in a month earlier. It was the fifth straight month of yearly decline in industrial output, as production fell further for: petroleum products (-69.3% vs -47.0% in May), electrical machinery (-7.2% vs -3.2%), basic metals (-18.3% vs -6.7%), food manufacturing (-1.9 percent vs -17.8 percent), non-metallic mineral products (-5.1% vs -14.1%), and miscellaneous manufactures (-0.2% vs -2.9%). In addition, output growth eased for: printing (70.4% vs 74.6%), transport equipment (4.8% vs 16.2%), rubber and plastics(7.4% vs 7.7%), fabricated metal products (9.5% vs 45.4%), and wood % wood products (15.1% vs 26%). Meanwhile, production grew faster for both paper & paper products (3.3% vs 1.7%), and beverages (17.3% vs 7%).

Philippines Manufacturing Output Falls the Least in 4 Months
Manufacturing production in the Philippines dropped by 2.1 percent year-on-year in May 2019, after an upwardly revised 11.3 percent fall in a month earlier. It was the fourth consecutive decline in industrial output and the smallest in the current sequence of decreases, as production fell at softer rate for food manufacturing (-17.7 percent vs -24.7 percent in April); basic metals (-13.5 percent vs -22.2 percent) and leather (-18.3 percent vs -24 percent). Additionally, output rose further for machinery except electrical (7.2 percent vs 1.7 percent); fabricated metal products (27.2 percent vs 25.4 percent) and printing (17.7 percent vs 9.3 percent). Also, production rebounded for petroleum products (31 percent vs -25.1 percent); transport equipment (15.5 percent vs -7.8 percent) and wood (22 percent vs -4.9 percent). Meantime, output slowed for electrical machinery (0.6 percent vs 3.4 percent); non-metallic mineral (3.1 percent vs 3.9 percent) and paper (4.1 percent vs 10.4 percent).
