Eurozone Producer Prices Rise Slightly in October
Industrial producer prices in the Euro Area edged up 0.1 percent from a month earlier in October 2019, the same as in the previous month and compared to market expectations of a flat reading. Energy prices led the gains (0.7 percent vs 0.5 percent), followed by non-durable (0.3 percent vs 0.1 percent), durable (0.1 percent vs 0.2 percent) and capital goods (0.1 percent vs 0.0 percent). Meanwhile, intermediate goods fell 0.3 percent, after a 0.2 percent decline in September. Year-on-year, producer prices dropped 1.9 percent as expected, the steepest annual decrease since July 2016.

Eurozone Producer Prices Rise Slightly in September
Industrial producer prices in the Euro Area edged up 0.1 percent from a month earlier in September 2019, following a 0.5 percent drop in August and matching market expectations. Energy prices led the gains (0.5 percent vs -1.9 percent), followed by durable consumer goods (0.2 percent vs 0.1 percent) and non-durable consumer goods (0.1 percent vs 0.2 percent). Meanwhile, capital goods costs were unchanged for the second consecutive month while intermediate goods fell 0.2 percent, after showing no growth in August. Year-on-year, producer prices fell 1.2 percent as expected, the steepest annual decline since September 2016.

Euro Area Producer Prices Fall More than Expected
Industrial producer prices in the Euro Area decreased 0.5 percent from a month earlier in August of 2019, down from a downwardly revised 0.1 percent rise in July and compared with market expectations of a 0.3 percent decline. Energy cost fell 1.9 percent, after rising 0.7 percent in the previous month while prices showed no growth for intermediate goods (vs -0.4 percent in July) and capital goods (vs 0.2 percent). Meantime, cost rebounded for non-durable consumer goods (0.2 percent vs -0.1 percent) and continued to increase for durable consumer goods (0.1 percent, the same as in July). Year-on-year, producer prices fell 0.8 percent, the first annual drop since October 2016.

Eurozone Producer Prices Rebound in July
Industrial producer prices in the Euro Area rose 0.2 percent from a month earlier in July 2019, recovering from a 0.6 percent drop in June and matching market expectations. Main upward pressure came from energy (1.0 percent vs -2.2 percent) and capital goods (0.1 percent vs flat reading). In contrast, intermediate goods costs continued to fall (-0.3 percent vs -0.2 percent) while prices for consumer goods were unchanged. Year-on-year, producer price inflation slowed sharply to 0.2 percent in July, the lowest since November 2016.

Euro Area Producer Prices Drop the Most in 6 Months
Industrial producer prices in the Euro Area fell 0.6 percent from a month earlier in June of 2019, following a 0.1 percent decrease in the previous month and compared with market expectations of a 0.3 percent drop. It is the biggest decline in industrial producer prices since December of 2018. Cost fell further for energy (-2.2 percent from -0.1 percent in May) and intermediate goods (-0.3 percent from -0.1 percent). At the same time, capital goods prices showed no growth (from 0.1 percent) while durable consumer goods cost went up 0.1 percent (from a flat reading) and non-durable consumer goods inflation went up to 0.3 percent from 0.2 percent. Year-on-year, industrial producer prices rose 0.7 percent, easing from a 1.6 percent gain in May. It is the lowest annual producer inflation since November of 2016.

Euro Area Producer Prices Fall More than Expected
Industrial producer prices in the Euro Area fell 0.8 percent month-over-month in December 2018, following a 0.3 percent decline in the previous month and compared with market expectations of a 0.6 percent decrease. Energy prices dropped 2.6 percent, after falling 1.0 percent in November. Also, prices of intermediate goods decreased 0.4 percent, following a flat reading in the prior month. Meanwhile, cost of non-durable consumer goods remained unchanged and prices increased for capital goods (0.1 percent from a flat reading) and durable consumer goods (0.2 percent from a flat reading). Year-on-year, producer prices went up 3 percent, slowing from a 4 percent rise in the previous month and below market consensus of 3.2 percent. Considering full 2018, industrial producer prices advanced 3.2 percent.
